I'm Alone.
London: Jonathan Cape, 1930. First edition. Hardcover. 287pp, with a frontis photo of Randell, plus the seven further photographs and a map. The schooner 'I'm Alone', was used to transport contraband alcohol to the US, during Prohibition in the United States. When returning from Belize with liquor in 1929, she was intercepted by a US coastguard cutter and ordered to stop. When the crew disobeyed, the ship was shelled and sunk. All but one of the crew were saved. After some legal argument, Randell received a payout and his freedom. The last 7 pages is a postscript by the publishers, as the case had, as of then, still not been resolved. Contents clean and unmarked. Firm in a binding of slate-grey cloth, spine soiled, with fraying at the head and a closed split at the head of the upper joint. Good copy, and a record of a cause celebre. Good. Item #19302110
