Baltimore, Waverly Press, Inc.:, 1931. First edition in English. Hardcover. A very neat copy of this little book. ix, [i], 130pp. 14.5x10cms. Original decorated endpapers, with an ownership name. Written in 1859, not published until 1883. The prelims consist of an enthusiastic prefatory letter from M.Henri Martin to M. Georges Barral in 1883, having just read the book, and a Note on the American Edition (ie: the present one), of 1931. Guyot was a Doctor of Medicine, and this text is full of useful and delicately expressed wisdom. Pages clean and bright. Firm, in the original binding of green cloth ruled in blind, both boards bright and clean, bearing a small gilt motif in the centre, and the spine titled gilt, slightly dulled. Corners good, small mark to upper board near foot of spine. Rare, and a very nice copy. Near Fine. Item #19312110
