The Songs of England and Scotland. [complete in 2 Vols]
[compiled by Peter Cunningham:]

The Songs of England and Scotland. [complete in 2 Vols]

London: James Cochrane, 1835. First edition. Vol I (songs of England and Ireland): (iv), xxxix, 313pp, [2] adverts; Vol II (songs of Scotland): (iv), (ii), xxxviii, 362pp. (Lyrics only, no music.) Some slight tanning and light occasional soiling to text in Vol II, Vol I text clean. Vol II has a half-title. Each vol has a frontis and an engraved title. These are foxed in Vol I, and are soiled in Vol II, with damage to both the engraved and the printed title pages (resulting in a hole to the former), where crude efforts have been made to scratch out 'Vol II', presumably to pass the odd vol as being complete. c18x11.5cms, in the original bindings of green cloth, rebacked, with the original spines, lettered and decorated in gilt, laid down. Binding matched except that Vol II is 2 or 3 mm wider and taller than Vol I. Bindings are firm, clean, and slightly knocked. VG.
