China. A Brief Account of the Country, its Inhabitants, and their Institutions.
Samuel Mossman, late editor of the North China Herald:

China. A Brief Account of the Country, its Inhabitants, and their Institutions.

London: Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK), n.d. [1867?]. First edition. v, [ii], 356, with a number of plates and a foldout tinted map. A seriously-written account by one who knows the country. While the contents are notably clean in general, a few pages have corner creases, or are slightly bent parallel to the margin. The map has been professionally repaired, and it and its adjacent page have some foxing. 16.5x10.5cms, with the original yellow endpapers, in the original binding of dark blue cloth over bevelled boards, decorated in blind, and with illustrations blocked in gilt to spine and front board. Firm and clean, but a little rubbed and dulled, spine ends puckered. Good copy of a very scarce title. Very Good.
