The Holy Bible [aka The Holy Catholic Bible], translated from The Latin Vulgate diligently compared with the Hebrew, Greek, and other editions in divers languages.

London and Newcastle-on-Tyne: Tyne Publishing Company, Limited, n.d. [c.1885] Large quarto clasped Catholic family Bible, recently restored with a new spine. xii, 809, [ii], 882pp with 10 colour plates (including the gilt frontis title), 12 engraved plates (plus the half-title vignette), and with 8 decorative pages for family portraits and a family register, all unused. The notes are very extensive, sometimes comprising more than half the text on the page. There is some spotting to many pages, and there are edge stains to the half title and two of the engravings. Minor soiling and repairs to the first and last couple of pages. Printed on good firm paper, making for a very heavy book (c.15lbs). All edges gilt. 33x28x11cms, in the original ornate gilt brass-edged bevelled boards, fastened with two decorative clasps, with a new calf spine with label and raised bands. The boards, both identically decorated, are quite rubbed. A very nice restored copy of an uncommon edition of the Haydock Bible. Very Good.
