The First Nine Years of the Bank of England. An Enquiry into a Weekly Record of the Price of Bank Stock from August 17, 1694 to September 17, 1703.
James E. Thorold Rogers:

The First Nine Years of the Bank of England.

Oxford: at the Clarendon Press, 1887. First edition. xxxii, 183, +36pp publishers' catalogue dated January 1887. Contents in very good order. Some pages bear extensive marginalia from the year of publication: some are in pencil, others in ink, sometimes overwriting the pencil. There are a few paras of informed critical appreciation in the ink hand on the half title, signed off as if in response to another, and dated 10 Sept 87, but I have not yet been able to decipher the signature. [It does not correspond with the name on the pastedown bookplate, that of the free trader and statistician, Thomas Henry Farrer, Abinger Hall]. Large 8vo, c.23x15cms, in the original smooth green-brown cloth, ruled and titled in gilt, bright and firm, with a discreet professional repair to the head of the spine. A very nice copy. Near Fine (+ marginalia).
