Shanghai: Watson & Co., printed by Kelly & Walsh, 1921. Second edition. [viii], 40; followed by the 66 large Vandyck photographs, depicting buildings, scenery, and people, tipped-in recto with facing captions. Photographs in fine condition, pale foxing to some pages. Title and initial capitals in the text are rubricated. Original silk bookmark present, detached. Later armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Small folio (c.15.5x11.5ins), in the original bevelled boards, with the original patterned blue silk printed in gilt relaid to the boards, and with a new spine of matt grey cloth, titled in gilt. Soiling and fading to the silk, particularly to the upper board, with a two-inch blot of black ink towards the spine. A very good refurbished copy. VG.
