Bungay: C. Brightly and T. Kinnersley, 1807. First edition. Vol I: v, (i), 254, 827; Vol II: [ii], 695, (i), [28] (index). All plates and maps (some folding) present except the map of 'Turkey in Europe and Hungary', referred to in a Note at the end of the list of plates. 1813 gilt bookplate to pastedown of vol ii, and mark to pastedown of vol i where the other has been removed. Contents generally clean, with tide stains in places and occasional groups of pages with some browning/foxing. Quarto, in contemporary full calf, spine with five raised bands and the original labels. Firm, corners bumped, an attractively weathered set. Very Good.

Pages clean and bright, with some minimal foxing to a few pages, and a small and shallow faint stain to the edges towards the beginning of the book. With the original ash brown endpapers. In the original binding of royal blue grained cloth over bevelled boards, ruled in black, and titled and illustrated in gilt: bright, with very little discoloration or soiling. With small professional refurbishments to the inner joints and covers: a very nice copy. Very Good.

In the original binding of green cloth printed in black. Spine ends puckered, small scuff at head of upper joint, otherwise firm, bright and clean. In protected unclipped pictorial dust jacket done in green and black on white, with large chip at head of spine and small chip at bottom front corner. Spine rather soiled or browned, front and back panels less so. 'Few have ever equalled his remarkable exploits in all parts of the world as a penniless wanderer. .... A breathless book, filled with the spirit of true adventure'. Very scarce title. Very Good+ in good dust-jacket.
