Eighth Edition. xvi, 365pp, +32 adverts (dated 1864), and with the guarded frontis portrait and the map of the North West Passage, outlined in colour. Contents very clean. Original brown endpapers with 1867 gift inscription to the ffep. In the original binding of navy cloth patterned in blind: gilt spine title rather dulled and faint marks to boards. All firm, spine ends and joints professionally refurbished. A very good sound copy. Very Good.

Williamston, NC: Privately Printed for Nicholas Scheetz, 1997. Limited edition. [42]pp, printed recto. #18 of 80 copies, signed by Richey on the limitation page, and with his gift inscription to Libby Purbes on the front free endpaper. Her introduction is a paean to the man. He was director of the Royal Institute of Navigation, and when young trained with Eric Gill, so no surprise that the woodcut on the title page is also by him. Written in his 20s, this short piece was here published for the first time to celebrate his 80th birthday. Landscape format, 16x24cms, in the original blue and white marbled boards bound with silk tape. Entirely fresh and unmarked copy, with no cover or envelope. Fine.
