London: Dorrell and Son, 1866. First edition. Hardcover. viii, 262pp, including 51 pages of notes, and a number of pertinent illustrations in the text. Original dark brown endpapers. Contents clean and unmarked except for the title, and its facing page, which bears a previous owner's address, both of which have some soiling. All edges red. 18x12cms, in the original binding of maroon cloth, upper board ruled gilt, gilt title to spine. Cloth slightly marked, spine ends scuffed, 1cm split to head of upper joint, but all firm. Rose produced translations of a number of Latin authors. His Fasti is very uncommon, and this is a nice copy. Very Good. Item #18661020
