Jolly Old Sports: comprising: Three Jolly Huntsmen; The Little Man and his Gun; and Three Jolly Fishermen.
[Traditional]: illustrated by Frank Adams:

Jolly Old Sports: comprising: Three Jolly Huntsmen; The Little Man and his Gun; and Three Jolly Fishermen.

London: Blackie and Son, [1922]. First and presumed only composite edition. [iv], 34 (of 36) + 4 leaves from a different edition bound in to complete the verses and illustrations to the final tale. The immensely characterful plates are all clean and bright. Some light soiling to margins, and tissue repairs to three closed edge tears: one of these is stained from former sellotape. Printed slip tipped in to supply missing lines where surface adhesion has damaged one verse of 'Fishermen'. While the book is folio, 340x255mm, printed with verses beneath the plates, the added pages are shorter (276mm), with the verses facing the plates and supplemented by an illustration in line: the plates of both editions are the same size (240x177mm). In the original boards with onlaid illustration from 'Huntsmen': picture scuffed, boards soiled and stained with wear to corners: firm, with new cloth spine. A title usually worn to bits. Very nice and effective rebuild of a defective copy. Hold on to your reins/ guns/ fishing rods! VG.
